Access Statement for The Old Hall Hotel
Introduction
The Old Hall Hotel is set in the village of Caister on Sea, we have 20 ensuite bedrooms which are all on the first floor and are fully accessible via a lift on the ground floor next to the Reception. The Hotel is located 10 minute walk from the local beach and on a main bus route to the town of Great Yarmouth.

Pre-Arrival
• The Old Hall Hotel is approx. 2.9 miles from Great Yarmouth train station where there is also an Anglian Taxi office and the local First bus stop is situated in the main park area. There is a taxi company within the village of Caister on sea who will arrange local pick up. Please contact Yellow Taxis on 01493 377327. The local bus stop for the hotel is located approx 10 metres from the hotel car park. The hotel has a wide range of colour brochures which explain more in depth what the hotel can offer and we are happy to send them to people via post or email.
Car Parking and Arrival
• The Old Hall Hotel offers two large car parks which are free of charge with 4 designated disabled bays outside the main doors of the Hotel. The entrance is accessed via a ramp through double doors which open outwards with an opening of 1500mm wide for wheelchairs. The two car parks are fully tarmaced and access from the car parks to the building is flat and even. All areas of the hotel and leisure facilities are easily accessed and all members of staff are happy to help.
Welcome Area
• The main entrance of The Old Hall hotel is entered by a double opening outwards door into a large wooden flooring lobby entrance all flat to a raised Reception desk with a staircase of 15 steps to the left and a large lift to the right of reception which gives full access to the first floor of the Hotel. The area has soft lighting with wall spot lights. We offer all our guest on checking in the chance to book for an evening meal and as a team we are happy to help our guest with any requests they may have.
Bedrooms
• Our disabled friendly room is located on the first floor right outside the lift which makes this room the most accessible room. The room has a wider door of 7900mm. When entering the room it has a short pile carpet with a zip and link bed on the back facing wall, left as you look at the bed the gap from wall to bed is 1500mm and to the right side wall to bed gap is 870mm. The room is decorated in neutral colours and has a main ceiling light and spots to highlight main areas of the room. All rooms are ensuite and have a telephone, television with built in Freeview and free Wi-Fi. The room has build in a wardrobe and desk and chair area.
Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)
• All our rooms at The Old Hall Hotel are ensuite with a bath and a shower over the bath. Our disabled friendly room has a lower sink at the height of 700mm from the floor. Also around the toilet which seat is 470mm from the floor is full hand rails for assistance. This room also has a shower over the bath with a small tiled area at the end of the bath with a rail for support to help gain access to the bath and shower. The bathroom is tiled from floor to ceiling with spot lights in the ceiling making the bathroom very well lit. The flooring in the bathroom is a non slip safety flooring.
Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors
• All public areas are carpeted with short pile carpet and are well lit. Our bar, restaurant and lounge areas are all ground floor and fully accessibly The lift is situated in the main reception area and the 15 steps take you to the fist floor should you be able to use the hand rail for support. All our main room are free flowing from the lift and our traditional rooms are one main step and five more steps up with rails for support.
Public Areas - Lounge
• The lounge area at The Old Hall Hotel is situated on the ground floor and has full ramped access via both doors ways. The area is all carpeted with short pile carpet and the chairs in this area can be moved around easily to make areas more suitable. We have low level tables and all chairs are bucket style seating. Situated on the ground floor are toilets, disabled toilet and baby change area.
Dining Room
• The lounge area is linked to the bar area which then leads to the restaurant which makes all areas fully accessible for all users. The carpet runs through all areas. We have a wide range of menus available throughout the day and all dietary needs can be meet with prior warning. Within the restaurant all food is cooked to order and served to you at your table. We also serve a Sunday carvery every Sunday from 12-4, booking is advised. All areas within the ground floor are well lit and the large windows offer great view. Also on offer are daily specials during food service times and great offers.
Additional Information
• Within all our hotel rooms are a welcome book which explains full evacuation policies. All areas are well signed and staff are happy to make all guest stay happy from start to finish. Assistant dogs are very welcome. Wheelchairs can be plugged in overnight and can be taken into bedrooms where full use when needed. The hotel is situated in a small village which has its own police station, doctors surgery and dentist within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel also offers FREE WI-FI for all our hotel guests which has its own password which is given to all our guest.
• The Hotel also has on site a 17metre swimming pool, spa pool and treatment room and fully equipped gym and our guest have fully access to these facilities. Further information on request.
